How Do You Choose the Right Adapter?

The Right Information, the Right Adapter. Follow a few simple steps to choose the best adapter for your device and use it safely.

6 Steps to Follow When Choosing an Adapter

Review the checks together with the manufacturer's information. Each step supports compatible and safe use with your device.

1. Brand and Model

Identify the exact model of the device.

2. Product Code and Barcode

Check the code of your existing adapter.

3. Voltage

Go by the manufacturer's input voltage.

4. Amperage and Power

Verify the required current and power values.

5. Tip type

Compare the dimensions, pin structure and connection.

6. Compatibility

Complete the final check with the technical information.

Read the Label Information

To choose the right adapter, check the label on your notebook or on your existing adapter.

01 Label on the Notebook

The label on the underside of the device shows the input (DC IN) values and model information.

Tip Types and Connection Options

When choosing the right tip type for your device, check the dimensions, pin structure and connection type. A similar-looking tip is not enough.

Pin Tip (Standard)

The most common tip type. Its outer and inner diameters must be checked.

Thin Barrel Tip

Used on devices with a smaller diameter. Size and length matter.

USB-C

Used on notebooks with a USB-C input. The PD profile is also checked.

Slim Type

Some brands and models may use special tip types.

A similar-looking tip alone is not enough for compatibility. Voltage, amperage, power and technical compatibility must also be checked. Different values can damage your device.
